Topic: Just press play

Who's your Go-to group, solid singers, reliable rockers, default divas??? Which one artist/group do you bang on when you can't be arsed to think of anything else and know they'll rarely let you down?

Mine's Van Morrison. 8 or 9 good albums and selected tracks from others. Like most artists with an extensive back catalogue he's produced some real horrors but when on form, more than makes up for these.

Who's your 'one'?

Re: Just press play

You're bang on about Van. When he's good it doesn't get better. Neil Young. Bob Dylan. Morrissey. Or Half Man Half Biscuit.

Fuck. I've turned into my Dad....

And yes, I know that's more than one.

If I could only listen to one band it would be The Jesus And Mary Chain but my go to album is Screamadelica.

Re: Just press play

Good shout on JAMC Cuts - they're up there for me

Choosing one I'd go for Joy Division

You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event - it is a habit.

Steely Dan, Supertramp.

Got more soul, than a sock with a hole.

Steely Dan, Chic.

He’s walked back to his youth and hymned the young man he was with knowing affection, despite the rain of bitter knowledge manhood has inevitably brought him.

Echo and the Bunnymen. And Joy Division. And oddly early XTC, The Members and Magazine.

Re: Just press play

A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French p*rn.
