Topic: Mogwai

One of those that I knew, heard the odd song of but never really gave time to.

I'm sold.

Hook, line and fucking sinker. Probably decades late to the party but I never was cool. TT, KOTS and others, amen brothers.

Working my way through the LPs....

She’s the main man in the office in the city and she treats me like I’m just another lackey, but I can put a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki...

Re: Mogwai

The Roses first album... , not much touches it in my humble, ( time and place certainly played a part in it .. ) but have pretty much done fuck all bar a Led Zep tribute album since .
Mogwai on the other hand  have been putting out great music for 20 years now.

Re: Mogwai

Happy Songs for Happy People was my favourite but I think Hardcore..is surpassing that now. Its got some bollocks to it hasn't it? Maybe their most uplifting album. I went for a 5 mile run yesterday with that on and it felt brilliant blasting through my synapses. I've not had a drink for a month and starting to enjoy the clear headedness. (Of course I'll get shanted at the weekend and ruin the sense of well being but still). Perfect album for running feeling like that with spring just around the corner.

Christ how did I miss these before. What a sound, from the drums, bass, heavy down tuned guitars, to keyboards twinkling over the top. Just the type of stuff to block other things out.

Some of it reminds me of Exterminator Primal Scream, when Mani & Throbert were in them, then a bit of Air, then they knock it down and go Talk Talky. Probably miles away, but this is good stuff, I am gonna give this album the time it needs, then move on to another one. Brilliant.

Just got my 2nd album Come On Die Young. Really enjoying this stuff and taking my time. How good is the talking bit on the first track Punk Rock. "Do you understand?" Oh yes we do Iggy!
