Topic: 1971, Never A Dull Moment - David Hepworth
Him who used to be on Whistle Test. Each chapter is a month from 1971, a year that he feels defined music and was the produced some of the best albums ever recorded. As well as the music it's interwoven with what's going on in the world, relevant films and politics. Interesting to read how music was just never mentioned in the media almost like it was an irrelevance, an underground thing. Explores some great albums and how they're often connected by the same artists, borrowing guitarists, producers etc.
There's a bit at the end, 1971 summed up in 100 albums. I spent so long reading it as I was looking at YouTube clips every 5 minutes. 71 albums for example, Tapestry, Loaded, Tago Mago, Sticky Fingers, A Nod's As Good As a Wink..., L.A Woman, Every Picture Tells A Story, What's Going On, Blue, Who's Next, Electric Warrior, Shaft, Surf's Up, Tupelo Honey, Meddle, There's A Riot Goin' On, Madman Across The Water, Hunky Dory, Concert For Bangladesh..and so many more.
Good book, well researched. I enjoyed it.
