Topic: So what tunes would you have at your funeral

Whenever I'm feeling a bit somber I think of what tunes I'd like to have my final say with
Instead of some poncy man of cloth pontificating over my life I'd rather have half an hour of tunes that mean something to me
So
Nick cave in my arms for my missus
Bruce Springsteen very specific this one the river off his 3 cd live albumn 11 minutes worth with full intro including his speech about him and his dad
Van Morrison cos I fucking love van not sure of which track though either into the mystic or avalon sunset
Beach boys good vibration best single ever
And finally the undertones teenage kicks

ambition beyond ability

Thought about this before. Probably this...

She’s the main man in the office in the city and she treats me like I’m just another lackey, but I can put a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki...

Tank Park Salute and I Know it's Over.   No priests.

I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got six cans.

My mate (massive Jam fan) wants Going Underground if he's buried. Funeral Pyre if he's cremated

This for the end and hopefully get everyone up dancing and that.

I'd imagine, bar the first one and the last one, this will have changed by next week.

I've thought about this a lot over the years.. the trouble with music being so important to me that it clouds the thought process.. do I aim to get them all sobbing like fuck? Get them dancing in the aisle .. is it songs for me or songs for them to remember me by? Tough call.

On the list though is

There is no drinking after your dead - Weller

Anymore for anymore - Ronnie lane

Northern sky - Nick drake

Remember me - British sea power

Going underground - the jam  (as they lower the coffin in to the ground)

Been to one today. It was Days by The Kinks at the end, which was pretty nice.

Played that at my Uncle Terry's.

My mate Maggie had a Rod Stewart and/or Faces song, the title of which I'm not sure of, but the main refrain was "tell everyone I had a good time", which I thought was a nice touch.

Joyous ones, songs of love and friendship.

Not something that some cunt from Dartford or Croydon would choose. Like a second-hand joke. What's next? Howard Jones? Wang-Chung?

Something that would make the women do the hand-pull thing from Midnight Train to Georgia.

Secret fucking smiles you straights.

Re: So what tunes would you have at your funeral

My nephew was murdered on 1st May, he was 36.  As you can imagine the funeral was a bit bonkers as he was young.

Anyway - he was obsessed with Oasis and one of the 'Hymns' was Don't Look Back in Anger.

It was a brilliant moment.  The vicar introduced it as one of Ben's favourite hymns and then everyone belted it out - 1000+ in the church and good knows how many outside.  The vicar up front leading the singing.

It is a cliche but if had seen it he would have absolutely loved it.

Other Hymns were a Kasiban song i had no clue of and married with kids by Oasis.

CBIT, the buffet will have to be sparkling after that. It reads like a playlist at a CIA dark rendition site.
