Re: End of year best of review

.....2017..and we've had our ups and downs!!

Downer 1 -Eldest sister being diagnosed with cancer recently-chemo/radiotherapy done and fingers crossed now!

Downer 2 - Losing my 14 year old Jack Russell after a lifetime of loyalty and devotion from him.(loved that dog).

Upper 1 -The arrival of my second grandson...no matter what they say, grandkids are definite game changers -Ace!

Upper 2 -Cashing in on the house, moving into rental and investing in various bits and pieces-for the first time ever I've no debt and some serious capital behind me...fuck it, no pockets in a shroud!

Book - Genuinely not had chance this year (see above why).
Music - Anything posted on here by Scootay seems to be my cup of cha too!
Gig -China Crisis at Korks in Otley -small venue but for all that very personal and brilliant for the nostalgia value alone.
Best Poster -Harvest -the site stalwart who keeps things ticking along nicely on here thank you.
Worst Poster -Me!!..by a country mile, usually post some right drivel and invariably end up talking to myself! (I like this place though).
Post of the Year - anything by Pat and I though Misura's piss take of Brendan Rodgers in the Poppy thread was fucking hilarious!

Moving on for 2018? -fuck knows really, pray for me Sis,stay healthy and keep enjoying the running.Enjoy lots more quality time with the family, especially the Grandsons.
Plenty of holidays in the sun planned.
Lose the angry tag!
Oh and for Leeds to finally get there...it's been too long really!

album of the year - plenty of great music this year - narrow win for Slowdive ahead of Goldie
gig - Primal Scream at the Danforth
single - Mr Monobrow with his Status Quo-esque She taught me how to fly
Book - Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail - Hunter S
Sporting Highlight - Austin Matthews - 4 goal debut for the Maple Leafs
Low - quitting my #run365 campaign around the 250 day mark due to a fucked knee
Film - Only Lovers Left Alive  by Jim Jarmusch or the McDonalds movie
Beer - back on the wagon
Personal highlight - watching my kid grow up and being a genuinely nice kid
Work - putting out the collab T shirt series and raising a wad for WarChild. getting a great line up for the 2nd series and getting Jamie Reid on board
Holiday ... hahahahahahhahahaha... Investment into a house outside the city in the wilds and getting away as much as possible the reason why but a beach soon is becoming a must.

Sorry to hear that.

Bit pissed off as it was for a good cause and I was doing it with Ken from 68, we kept each other going. But in the end, having a 6 year old little lad growing up with a dad pushing 50 and a fucked knee wasnt a good idea.

Not enough end of the year lists..

C'mon you slackers this is the most important time of year for a forum like this.

I want pointers on stuff I should be watching, listening to and reading.

Let's have a top 20 albums for example.

Also I'm way out of touch on the world cinema front

Love a good subtitled movie

Spiral is back on BBC4 on the 30th. Series 6. You've probably got enough time to watch the first 5 before then (if you don't sleep etc). Do it, you won't regret it. It's brilliant.

She’s the main man in the office in the city and she treats me like I’m just another lackey, but I can put a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki...
