Topic: Wot car does you drive

As we have a thread on what are we wearing, why not have an Alan Partidge question!

I drive a Skoda Octavia Estate. A car built on socialist principles & they built Panzer tanks for the weirmacht.

Boring, but does the job

I am just a common breed

Saab 9-3 rag top.  10 years old, cost 3k and it gets parked right next to all the lease bunny Herman mobiles at work.

Thinking of one of those huge new Skoda's, nice motors.

57 plate XC90. Shit mpg and I'll need a second mortgage if they bring an emissions charge in but it's a great car. Hate the new shape, looks like a fucking Range Rover or a Q7.

Re: Wot car does you drive

I've got two bay window campers, a t25 and a lambretta too if we're talking Turkey

I don't give a shit about cars

I was laughing with my mechanic the other day about a customer of his. She had a three year old range rover vogue with a few problems.. eventually he sorted it after he realised that the engine was Renault 2.2 diesel unit.. got the part from Renault and sorted it because it's a very old engine and he knew it.. the customer when told this information wasn't happy... her pride and joy being French filth

Re: Wot car does you drive

Audi A5 S-line coupe.

Sold to me by my mate after he went vegan and could roll with leather seats.

It’s ace.

Even better Audi under extended warranty had to replace the engine after they royally and i mean royally fucked up a simple fix.

I have a new car is the way I see it.

Re: Wot car does you drive

It's the stupid bastards that assume they're buying a land rover/range rover and therefore it's better than everyrhing else .. it's not Blackpool rock.. it's not land rover right through.  Top of the engine it says land rover but out of sight it says Renault..  the range rivers and discoverys used to have the same engine that was in the transit.. they used to have the same CD player too..

The citroen C6 has the same 2.7 engine as the range rover... now that's a car I actually like.. give me one of them bastards any day of the week

Didn't they use c6's to film alongside horse races because rid the mad bastard suspension?

They are supposed to be amazing but I bet they are a cunt to fix.  They only sold about 12 here didn't they?

Re: Wot car does you drive

Volvo v50 shared the same platform as a ford focus and a Mazda.. also shared two engines.  Audi used to use Renault diesel engines and the Mitsubishi diesel gdi was in a lot

Anyway..  look at the figures for the most reliable cars for last year... all Japanese and Korean dominated .. even Alfa Romeo was in the top ten.. Audi, vw were well down..

And the lads who make the most money spannering are land rover specialists.. frightening what goes wrong with them and eye watering what it costs

An 08 Citroen C6 would be half the price of a range rover easily of the same age and has far less on it to go wrong... I'm not saying it's not gonna go wrong like....

Lots more groups now too. VW Audi Skoda Seat, Fiat Alfa Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Renault Nissan Mitsubishi, Citroen Peugeot Opel Vauxhall.  Big parts bins all of em.

Re: Wot car does you drive

I could talk all night about where the car industry has gone wrong and how the public get their eyes taken out on a regular basis.. cars are too complicated and use cheap shit for parts. Most main dealers are in deep shit too.. my pal runs a peugeot and fiat site and they lost half a million last year and the story is similar in a lot of the group. I was talking to my mate yesterday who's been in corporate sales for bmw for thirty years.. last March he sold 108 New cars, this March he has thirty two on. He's probably got more contacts and more businesses in the trade than anyone in his game.  I wouldn't want to be running round in a year old car on finance right now..

Re: Wot car does you drive

Lad I qualified with bought a Phaeton, the W12 one. Fraction of the price of comparable cars. Amazing thing to drive in. You can go well over 100mph and not hear the engine. Like sitting on a handmade leather sofa. VW lost a fortune on them apparently.
When I bought the Volvo I had a look at a Discovery (the new one is fucking rank BTW). Mate told me that if the suspension goes it can cost £1000s per wheel. The door handles on the original Discovery came off Sherpa vans didn't they?

Yeah but I drop the kids off at school in it on the way to work and I would never be arsed to fit it and take it off.  My old TF had a fixed one which was great.
