Topic: Books/kids Kids/books

My lad reads before bed every night. He reads more than I do. Sometimes he just goes to bed with an atlas, tonight's one of those nights. Tomorrow I'll be getting quizzed on random Indonesian cities. Atlases are ace, knowledge is POW!!!er.

Ha ha.  I used to do that.  Atlases and road maps.

I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got six cans.

He devours road maps. 'Which is bigger, Inverness or Burnley?'

Dunno about bigger but Inverness is a lot nicer.  Does he like the distance matrices?  I used to love them.

Excellent stuff, have you thought about buying him a subsc. to National Geographic or such like?

If he is younger, there's some good stuff on here that might light his rockets.

Edited to say, this may down a treat with him.

Childrens quest for knowledge reminds me of being young, and how that desire went on hold for 20 years from the age of 15.

Friends son reading an animal facts book at the weekend informed me that a sloth leaves the trees once a week to go for a poo. Not sure why they cant do it in the trees, or why only once a week, but I feel more enlightened with this new knowledge.

I was obsessed with maps as a kid.  Had all kinds of them stuck to my walls.  I'm still basing trips (or "Dave's shitty fucking trips" as my kids call them) on places I saw on maps 50 years ago.

I'm currently plotting to fly to Orkney to visit "Twatt".
