Topic: Slow Horses - Mick Herron

The fact my Mum recommended it would usually be a good sign that I'd find it stultifyingly boring.
But it's not. The 'slow horses' of the title are members of the security services who've f***ed up and find themselves banished to the faceless offices that are 'Slough House'.
Surprised my Mum likes these books (there's a few it seems). People swear for a start. Worth a read.

She’s the main man in the office in the city and she treats me like I’m just another lackey, but I can put a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki...

But of a Tinker Tailor feel?

I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got six cans.
