Topic: The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

Someone bought me this for Christmas, I'd never heard of it. It was a bestseller a few years back apparently.

Harold Fry leaves his house to post a letter and carries on walking and walking. He walks to the other end of the country to see an old friend - the pilgrimage. He only has the clothes he stands up in and boating shoes on his feet. Along the way he encounters an assortment of people and hears their story and shares his own. His life and marriage is touched with sadness and the journey gives him the time and space to reflect and try to work out who he is and who he was.

Shot through it in three days. January the fifth and already read two books this year.

Where does he sleep?.

I'm rereading Austerity again. A Gore reccomendation that I read last year but there's a lot to take in. I've seen Bylth on TV, he's from Dundee, I read it in his voice which makes it hard at times.

Did he use credit cards or cash? If it was cash he planned it.

How old is he?

I just realised, someone gave me this book a while ago and I forgot all about it.

65.

First few pages sounded a bit Terry and June, a bit twee but I think she does this on purpose as there is a darkness to it all later plus some subtly funny parts.

Did you like it Harvest, I read it years ago, quite an easy read, I see why you did it in 3 days. It does get a bit dark, quite sad if I remember rightly. Good book.
