Mishima, aye that's the fella, homosexual, was it the Saint Sebastian image that gave it away?
Same guy that went down to the Tokyo army barracks in 1970 and said, "let's grab it all back from the yankees and yankee puppets - come on we can do this.." When they all laughed at him he commited suppuka on the balcony.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IasOkulcDQk his last interview in English, 1969
I'd ike to see Nick Griffin do that and you've got to admire Mishima's convictions really.
Not sure he would have approved of Maria Ozawa mind..
That's the guy .at least he died for what he believed in .not like the people today who want YOU top die for what they believe in
Is she half Japanese .half white? tidy !
Yep, he definitely followed through on what he believed and rather than become a laughing stock in the media killed himself in the time honored way, by cutting his own guts out..
To be fair he was as far right as you could get, but he was actually hated by the mainstream nationalists in Japan as he stated that Hirohito (the Emperor) should have abdicated and taken full responsibility for the war dead, something the nationalist hated, as they believe the buck stops with the Emperor. He was also disgusted that the Emperor denounced that he had a 'divine right' to do what ever he liked when the US came rolling into Japan. No surrender, was the order of the day for Mishima. Mishima's actual convictions were more geared towards the defence of Japanese culture, which is why on the otherhand he can be seen as a hero. He hated the americanization of Japan, the loss of values and respect that people might or might not have had before the invasion. For this reason he has a bit of Che Guavara thing going on with the kids in Japan, i.e. he makes it on to t-shirts and posters.
Anyway, back to Maria. Yes, she's half Japanese and half Canandian, something Mishima would have definitely not allowed, mixing the blood was a big no-no for him in keeping the Japanes culture alive.
I vaugly remember watching a film about him ,a whil back now though .he looks a bit like Anthony Quinn
It kept refering to teh bushido code .but i think you summed him up perfectly in the above ,definate right winger ,too far right for his time after the war .I remember something about the Japanese saying they didn't want to re instate their army because they didn't trust themselves so were quite happy that the US were there
at that particualr time .
That Maria is a looker that's for sure
