Bit slow to respond to this one, but Bond did bring much needed flair to the team in the mid-to late-70s. He succeeded Ron Saunders (model for PRIVATE EYE's "ashen-faced, tight-lipped Ron Knee"), whose dour approach had taken us for the first time into Div. One in 1972. But by 1980 Bond's entertaining team had fallen apart and he "did a Lambert" by nipping off to Man Citeh. RIP.
I remember him, his lad Kevin is a coach who follows Harry Redknapp about is he not? Looked like a mildly sinister country teddy bear.
