Topic: The cultural phenomena that is the smoothie

I'm trying to lose some more weight.  Bought a smoothie maker.

I am now living on kale based smoothies.  I can honestly report that they taste fucking terrible.

Try chucking in some absinthe, pep it up a bit.

Make them more banana based then.  Kale is bitter raw.

Banana, strawberries, spinach and honey.  Add some Greek yoghurt for body and you can even chuck in a Weetabix for roughage.

Great thing about smoothies is you can wang all sorts in and just neck it.  Get your 5 a day in one hit.

I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got six cans.

I never eat breakfast. I am also partial to a fad every now and again. As such I bought a Nutri-Bullet at the weekend. Breakfast in under 3 minutes - brilliant. Loads of fruit (add in a frozen banana - magic) and away you go.

Fucking. Ace.

I quite enjoyed my smoothie fad, but hate making them and  now have no one to make them for me.

I bought a fancy soup maker week before Christmas with the intention of living off veg soup for a month. Our lass keeps asking when I'm gonna collect my ornament. It's still in the box at hers

Re: The cultural phenomena that is the smoothie

My fad this January has been a pannini make.  Boy has egg one and if I have time I have bacon.  I like this fad, it's tastier.

I got it off the mother in law who heard mh hints after watching Jon Favreau in  Chef.  I love my paninni grill and my nutribullet is in the cupboard next to the breadmaker.

I'd offer you a beer, but I've only got six cans.

Re: The cultural phenomena that is the smoothie

Think I last had one about 2 years ago. No kale in it, though. Sounds foul.

Re: The cultural phenomena that is the smoothie

This soup thing is like a blender and slow cooker rolled into one. You peel veg add chicken or whatever you want. It slices and dices and cooks it all day so you come home to a nice bit of soup. But it's still in the box at hers.

That's fuckin aldi for you. I go in to grab a few things, see soup maker for 40 quid down from 60, think that's a great idea and buy it.

No ale, bread, pasta or potatoes for me this Jan. Enjoyed it. Not missed the booze, wish I could say same about chips.

The marketing of healthy living, smoothies and veggie juices is simply that - marketing. Much better to just eat fruit and veg normally

Take off hosers ...
