Re: All Things Guiseley AFC - Home of the Lions

Used to go out with a girl from Mansfield

She liked having her Huddersfield

(It's a true story though)

You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event - it is a habit.

It's at home. Thank God. All that motorway two days before Xmas....

Great win against Cambridge in the FA cup.
Nearly blew it though, 4 nil up to hanging on at 4-3

They'll get through the next round and beat us in our annual third round exit.

Re: All Things Guiseley AFC - Home of the Lions

I can't make up my mind as to what gave me the greater pleasure today.

Guiseley beating Cambridge United 4-3 in the FA Cup.

Or spotting, hung by the away supporters, what must rate as the most middle-class banner ever seen in a football ground - a flag of St George emblazoned with "David Janet" in the upper quadrants. (Daniel and James were on the lower quadrants, but they only featured in a stiff breeze.)"

I'm guessing here, but I wouldn't be surprised if under David it included in small letters, "Regius Professor Emeritus of Modern History, Gonville and Caius", and under Janet, "Fellow in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Girton".
