Re: Pop. 1280

Well fuck me if this is not bloody marvelous.

A small town sheriff in a Texas back water around 1915.  What a character Nick Cory is.  It is funny, disturbing, violent and multi layered.  Brilliant.  Love it.

Why the Cohen Brothers have not turned this into a film is beyond me.

Re: Pop. 1280

I found this to be an intriguing novel in two halves.

it was not shy in it's foreshadowing and this, to me, gave it gravitas and humour.

It quickly became a series of events usually ending in terror in one form or another but as the story unfolds the real madness became evident and the eventual resolution was almost Brechtian in it's execution.  I felt so distanced from the main character and his transformation/descent it was almost like reading another book.

I'm a busy man and in the main brevity is my byword.

Is that OK with you?

She's into Robert Galbraith stuff whoever he is

^^^  Ha ha ha

I enjoyed The casual vacancy but I struggle with Rowling as I think about her tits and money to much when I read her non Potter stuff.
