Topic: 10cc - How Clever Were They...

The musicality, the lyrics, the denouement, the gritty fucking North.

Very, very clever band - make it all sound so simple. Sure there's a link to Leeds, Leeds, Leeds and Everton too.

What an intro:

Re: 10cc - How Clever Were They...

There used to be a little record shop in Shipley behind the market that sold badges and posters. I used to Nick badges when the guy was distracted but I'd be looking the other way and robbing blind.. I'd aim for a jam badge or Blondie in her knickers but only ever came away with 10cc... I knew nothing about 10cc but wore their badges.. the one with the diver holding a girl was a badge I remember well.. good intro tho yeah

Saw them at the Palladium, just before Easter last year, after seeing a documentary on them, the split in two etc...
Godley & Creme went off and ended up directing videos, Fade to Grey, Girls on Film, Two Tribes & Don`t stand so close to me.
Stewart & Gouldman carried on and did "Things we do for love", "Feel the benefit" & "Drealock Holiday".

Unfortunately only Graham Gouldman was there, but it was very good.
Made me think what it would have been like if all four had been there.

Wow, the hits they wrote before they were 10cc.

Fulmine - "Bus Stop" is one of theirs...

Can't pretend I ever liked them but was impressed when I found out Graeme Gouldman wrote Heartful of Soul for TheYardbirds

"We are The Fall"

In that film, Graham Nash speaks highly of Gouldman,

Used to love that epic album, by Godley + Creme. Consequences.

Got more soul, than a sock with a hole.

Saw them a couple of times when they were touring "Sheet Music" and "Original Soundtrack". Two brilliant albums and two really good gigs.

The insurgency began.................and you missed it.

Just sounds all a bit dull to me.  A bit 'too clever'

Can appreciate the musicality and why people like it - not for me though

You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event - it is a habit.
