Not yer standard musician autobiography...
Great descriptions of growing up in Hull in the 50's and 60's, and of Hull's counterculture / avant garde scene. The Throbbing Gristle years are fascinating but, although the confirmation that Genesis P Orridge was a prize bell end does not come as a huge surprise, she doesn't pass up many opportunities to highlight his bellendness. The last part of the book, covering the TG 'regrouping', in particular comes across as an endless slagging of his behaviour, and wears a bit thin.
Still, its resolutely undramatic, almost deadpan style makes it a good read.
There's a picture of her in her modelling days, promoting the Brighton Pub of the Year or summat, in full dolly bird glamour set up. Hard to credit that at the same time she was also making some of the heaviest music around.
