Placid It's real, empty houses (akiya) in empty towns, pretty shitty like this one, hundreds of miles away from anywhere important, freezing when it dumps 8 foot of snow in the winter, but yes, these places are free or a few quid. You'll get a handful of neighbours all in their 80's, no schools as there's no kids, and then along comes a load of Nathan Barley types, who can't speak the language buying them up and doing IG and Tik Tok videos like this. Think they're going to crackdown on foreigner home-ownership because of it. Thankfully owning a property doesn't get you a visa, so that's a blessing I guess. You can stay 90 days in it, then off you pop! Imagine being 80 years old and these knobheads moving in next to you. Be like Chinese buying up farms in Swaledale and videoing everything they do. Next will be the fix up videos. Wankahs!
Some nice ones on here from time to time https://www.instagram.com/cheaphousesjapan/ , but yes, even this is feeding the Weebos (Japan romantics) that want to live like a Ghibli movie, but don't know how hard that will be, or have any opinion on what it'll mean for these dying communities. Let 'em die without some ginger bearded Melv swinging in videoing everything, or let Japanese save these communities and start having kids.
Niigata in winter, in a 70 year old wooden house with dirt floors, of course it's 69 bucks! 😂
