Minnewaska State Park NY.

Great place, got all these old carriage roads from the time when it was a top notch destination for the minted who'd be driven on horses drawn, erm, carriages to the waterfalls, cliff tops etc. Sound place, about 90 miles north of NY City. Kids love it. Walks of various length and difficulty. Apparentley there's a ton of rattlers but I don't know anyone who's ever seen a live one. Tea time, drive back through New Paltz, which is a pretty cool little spot , plenty of decent resturants and have a bite to eat. Drive home kids knackered but happy,

Just got in today from Snowdon. Fucking brilliant it was - sunburnt to fuck but feeling satisfied. Plenty of people finishing their 3 peak challenges so there was a good vibe bout it.

Up the Pyg and down the Miners for you route lovers out there.

It was chock-a-block at the cafe at the top. We walked back down to the the lakes and had a few sarnies. Is there a cafe halfway up on the otherside?

I tell you what, Sca Fell was impressive and yes the view was ace but really Snowdon's so much bigger than anything around it the view was just brilliant, it really was.

This walking lark could catch on you know....

Thats the best route IMO, the other one from Llanberis is a bit of long boring slog. Did you go to Pete's Eats in Llanberis. If not go back immediately and order a salad and be amazed at this mountain of ace food that you'll get. http://www.petes-eats.co.uk/

Just spent a week here - Perros Guirec in Brittany. Great walks along a coastal path (see pic) between some superb beaches. Jogged along it one day, but too many dithering ramblers getting in the way.

That looks ace Placid. Did Grindsbrook Clough at Edale on Saturday. Nice steady 3 and half hours, beautiful scenary and decent ale in the Nag's head beer garden afterwards.

Can't wait until my kids are old enough to go hiking and camping overnight. Legs are too little at mo.

Walking is ace. Loads of pubs, chance to wear some nice coats and walking boots, bit of fresh air thrown into the bargain and I always sleep really well after a good walk.

The walk from the top of our village to the bottom is nice. After 10 pints the walk back is fucking shite.

Best local walk for me is to The Abbey pub. Followed by 8 pints of Blackberry Cascade and a taxi home.

Anyone know good walks around Whitewell just north of Clitheroe. Theres a brilliant pub there called the Inn at Whitewell. Either that or the Bowland forest in general.

Ended up in Derbyshire last week really early for an appointment.

I was dying for a Gypsy's - no McDonalds anywhere near by according to the Sat Nav, too early for pubs to be open so I was a bit stuck. eventually saw a sign for a public convenience. Didn't know they still had them outside London (for the bummers and that) - but found an amazing touristey little beauty spot near the Trent (yeah, didn't know they had them either). This is 9:00am on a Tuesday and there was absolutely pots of fanny out walking their dogs. The pissers were cleaner than Alicia Rhodes' shitter after a bum douche.

Booked 3 nights in Aug for me and the SP. £130 all in to stay in a Scandinavian Lodge (aka Big Garden Shed). Looks fucking ace for the money like and I'm looking forward to tearing into their own ales. It's not far from Breaston (fnarr fnarr) - a cracking looking village with a few nice boozers and restaraunts, and two blinding butchers. Weather permitting we'll fire into one of them and "meat up" for a barbecue one night.
