It's good but its hard. I did it and my knees were knackered, strangely enough going up the peaks is not the problem its coming down. had the same thing recently on Hellvelyn.
also the long slog from pen y ghent to whernside is murder if you get lost like we did and had to go through loads of bog land.
me and my brother "walked" into the pub in horton 10.5 hours after starting. both of us walking like douglas barder. had the worst inner thigh chaffing ever.
Theres no taste like that first pint when you're finished. I'm in. Have to be late August for me like.
Did it last August and it really is hard work if you're not particularly fit, which after my bike accident in April I was definately far from my best. Managed a semi-respectible 9 1/2 hours, but had some serious blisters and lost 4 toenails in the prevailing weeks, and said I'd never do it again.
However, am currently traning for another crack this year. Think I can knock a good hour off that time with lessons learnt from last year. New lightweight boots instead of the winter-weight ones I did it in. Not bothering with food either. Took sarni's, crisps and a flask last time  but going for more high-energy fluids, bigger camelback and high-energy bars and gels. I do know after yesterdays puff and pant up Ingleborough, I've a long way to go before attempting it I know that for sure.
But hey, do it in less than 12 hours and you too could be a proud member of the 3 Peaks Club ;):D
