He kept asking me questions and inviting me in to their conversation. At the end I gave in and got chatting to him. Seems like a nice bloke although I did get the feeling he was engaging with me cos I double took him as he came in.

His posh mate who was with him was a tool, when he heard my accent he bellowed "now that's a manchurian accent if ever I've heard one" to which I replied I've never been to China. John laughed but posh man didnt.

I corrected him and also mentioned I was from t'other side of t'hill. I neglected to tell him how much we hate those fuckers..

JG proceeded to tell me about his friendship with Bremner and how he thought the Damned United film was unfair on the players.

I told him I liked the football that he had swindon playing with hoddle he was very pleased with this. I asked him about working for bates and he said Glenn went to Chelsea he stayed at swindon.

Nice bloke. Liked his ego stroking a bit but in a none arrogant manor. Genuine enough even though the people he was with were a long way from the Glasgow streets he came from.

Forgot to say we were sat at the table next to ex-lib dem leader Tim Farron at Fell Bites cafe in Glenridding a few months ago. He was with his wife and adult son by the looks of it. They all had coffee and cake. We had full English (or veggie full English). They seemed like nice people to be honest.

At first I thought that coffee and cake was a bit of a poncey option for grown men then I had a word with myself and thought "it's 2023, they're having a nice time, anything goes, l hope they enjoy their ladylike cakes".
