The story goes Elvis Costello befriended him in the early 70 s, when Lowe was playing in a pub in Liverpool (Costello was only about 18), but they stayed friends. Years later when EC was recording Almost Blue, Lowe was married to Carlene Carter (Johnny Cash s stepdaughter), so Lowe pulled a few strings and it was recorded in Nashville and produced by country producer Billy Sherrill (famous for producing George Jones & Tammy Wynette). Looking like they did The Attractions got a few stares when drinking in the bars around Nashville, I suppose it was just after punk and new wave.
According to Costello, if anyone asked who these weird looking blokes from England were the barman would say "They re okay, they`re staying up at Johnny Cash s ranch".
