Right, my contract is up shortly and I can't be arsed with reading loads of review sites.Choice is either iphone 4 or desire s - both probably decent. Can't be doing with paying for more expensive options like galaxys2 or iphone4s which sounds good but not a lot better than the last apple. So... which one do you reckon. I know, it's just a phone but I'll be stuck with it for 2yrs - any advice appreciated.Main interest is battery life and use as an actual telephone as I'm away a lot blathering on to people for work. Ta....

Never had an Iphone so can't compare. I currently have a Desire S and I think its very good. Much better than previous Desire I had. Android 2.3 is sound.Easy get a day out of the battery unless you're constantly on the interweb. Just make sure you add juice defender as an app.

Not had the desire but I'd say go with the Jesus phone. Not met anyone yet who's had one and moved away.It isn't just a phone but you'll love it for the extra things it does over and above normal phone stuff. Even just the practical phone stuff it does are great. Phoning numbers from websites, textsn emails etc. I use a blackberRy for work and its shite in comparison for general practicality. Iphone all the way.

The Black Lace of smartphones, outdated tech blinded by novelty . :lol:This is a phone.
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/xperia-arc-s?cc=gb&lc=enThe new version coming shortly is rumoured to have a 4.3 inch Mobile Bravia touch-screen that runs at 1280*720 pixels (720p) which was reported previously. However, new information contained in the latest leak suggests it'll have a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and an amazing 12 mega-pixel camera and all on the new lightening fast Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

But an iphone will let you talk in funny voices and you get to get itunes take over and fuck up everything. :D

I've never had a problem with anything Apple.Works well.

Most people I've met who slaughter the iphone have never had it or are the eternal outsiders, who are anti anything popular

I've used and owned Macs since 1983, this is a currently a two Mac house, laptop and tower. The iphone is a novelty item with blunt edge tech. It's a phone for your mum.

Whichever is the cheaper deal. There's not a lot in it at this point.

Fucking hate phone swith a vengeance. Hav eto carry a Blackberry around with me as a works phone but when they got a bit keaner on personal texts (I make a few with the rugby) I got a £10 a month contract with unlimited texts and a Samsung android phone. Does the trick.

iphone... of course. I use it for pratically everything. Even sleeping. It will also keep it's value. Just sold my old 3gs for £50 more than I bought it for.

Basically your down to an iPhone or a new Android. The Galaxy S2 is a great phone - I was really impressed by it. Blackberries have gone from running countries to running riots. Losing cash very quickly and quite frankly will either be running Android in the next 18 months or Microsoft may buy them.Avoid Windows 7 - although my company is expecting a rebirth for them when the sort their shit out with Nokia. A lot of people who just want their phones to work will go down that route.

yeah but...The desire S and the Iphone 4 are both FREE and on cheap deals. The ones you mention above are either on big monthly deals or you have to front up cash.Reason I never had an Iphone is that I will never front up cash for a phone I'm going to throw away in 18months to 2 years because its obselete. They've changed that and about fucking time, the robbing cunts. Both the Iphone 4 and the Desire S are decent kit and will probably upgrade one more time so should be good for another year at least. You pays your money and takes your choice. I think the HTC sense UI is brilliant and make using the phone a dream. Also makes the Apple look dated and static, but its a minor point. Big thing for me is that I can get a day out of the fucking thing with medium phone use, music and a fair bit of internet.

Ain't going to argue with any of that.

My 4S didn't really cost me anything up front. If I hadn't sold my old one, Orange had offered me the same amount I got to recycle it. That amount was enough to buy the new one - and on a very good deal. In two years I'll do the same. The 4 is on a good deal now, but if poss I'd go for the 4s to sync with Apple's release schedule. ie in 24 months the 4 will be struggling to hold it's value against 4s users wanting to upgrade to the 5s.The Siri feature, although still in Beta, is well worth getting the 4s for. Voice recognition is embedded in everything now and understands my mumbling Yorkshire accent 9 times out of ten.

Do what the Mrs did after she lost her bells and whistles Samsung, buy an LG for about a tenner, no internet, email, camera, games, nothing. Gets a signal when my Blackberry doesn't mind.
