My Aunt Lynn, or Lillian to give her her real name, which she detested. My Mum's youngest sister. Being the youngest of four, she was the spoilt, cheeky and bonkers free spirit kid. Always laughing, always up to something. Her two boys never had family so she treated my three kids like royalty.....er, hang on a minute..... like Gods. Lavish birthday presents and enough sweets, at Christmas, to bring on type II diabetes in the population of a country the size of Wales.
One of my favourite stories about her is when she and her boyfriend at the time were strolling through Harehills Park.
He says "What sort of stone would you like?'
Lynn, sensing a proposal, says " Well, to be different, I'd quite like an emerald'
He, shocked, gestures through the railings and says "Oh, no, not for a ring, I meant headstone!"
He was binned shortly afterwards.
