2 of my wife's cousins are addicts, one has had 3 children taken from her as a result. Her mother has the eldest living with her now but as she gave birth to the other 2, both with heroin dependency they were taken into care as her mother is just too old and unwell to cope with any more. Her other son is an addict as well, with the usual results, no teeth, paranoid schizophrenia and a lifetime of stripping their mother of everything of value she ever owned, including her dignity.
