Any of you lot got any advice on bike trainers/ stationary bike conversion jobs?
Did two miles on a stationary bike at physio yesterday, felt like a real breakthrough moment though the therapist advised caution. I don't really want to buy a stationary bike. I have a bike I could set up permanently on a trainer. Not looking to spend more than I have to but want something decent.

Jon Saris tend to get best buys for budget 'wheel on' turbos. Elite are good but could be double the price.
Should be plenty of second-hand ones knocking about as loads will be buying 'smart' trainers.

My Lad had one during lockdown as he couldn't go out due to a health issue. Set it up on the deck. Was pretty good. Took the skewer out to attach and some magnetic trickery to increase the resistance.

He used it loads.

Simple, no frills. Was ideal for gentle spinning when I was recovering from knee surgery. I have a basic Garmin which can hook up to sensors on the bike to provide speed/cadence etc if I want a more structured session.

CharlieG I like what I've just read and seen with that one. I like the way it lets gravity take care of things when setting up. Not bothered for the monitors, tracking and all that. Sounds like fluid is the way to go.

CharlieG I’ll stick with it. Seen remarkable progress since my first full rotation on the stationary bike. That actually hurt like hell and I had to suppress a scream but so much tightness in my quad has gone. It’s the other stuff that’s going slowly. Stairs are a nightmare. Once again, thanks for the recommendation. Exactly what I needed, simple design.

Watching pro cycling in the UK just got very expensive.

Eurosport in the UK and Ireland is no more as the Discovery+ bundle has been swallowed up by TNT sports.

Discovery+ was £7 a month - TNT have put it in the £31 bracket. Cunts
ITV dropped the GT coverage this year so no terrestrial coverage. Only Quest for highlights.

Will need to explore my dodgy box for coverage but I loved the £7 a month coverage with no ads. 🥺
