Reggie_Perrin Fair. I don’t think I was aware of that but now I’m thinking I’ve seen a movie about him in which he was a controlling fucker but I can’t remember the details. Jon His biography by Richard Balls from 2000 is pretty much no holds barred. He comes across as a controller and a womaniser and abuser, which he blamed on his upbringing. A kid with polio in a special school just outside Lewes in Sussex for sure had it tough, not that it excuses his later abuses. There is also a biopic which definitely covers his controlling tendencies. Even in his appearance in 'The Cook, the wife, the thief and her lover' he comes across as a twat, although to be fair not a patch on Gambon's character for obnoxiousness.

Great memories and I could expand on so many of the points you raise but probably best not 😂
Burkey! Had a few run ins with him and his cohorts.
Our kid had a proper set to with him one Saturday night after a boozy Leeds/Oinkment argument.
I saw him and his lass in Skipton a few years back, I was with Mrs Raposa and we dug in at a little boozer on the Main Street and had a good laugh about the old times.
Best memory of that Unicorn was that night when Leeds played Huddersfield in the league cup and Bradford were at home to Man Utd,
Our game was shit, we were losing so came back on an early train to have a dabble with the Mancs.
We got to the bottom of Ivegate and the Ointment piled out and decided we were fair game.
Honey Monster,Bamber and Silba was with us and a few others of the older Bfd whites so we weren’t going anywhere .
Lot of claret about and town was a bit naughty for a few weeks after.
I could go on but that photo brought it all back .
Did I mention the fit bird I pulled one night in Time and Place who was a hairdresser in the Hairforce salon in Ivegate?
That’s another tale..didn’t end well.
Nice pair of norps though.

Raposa Must have been mad for you lot living over there. Did they wait for you regularly? Few of us would sometimes go over if they were playing someone ‘interesting’ and Leeds were playing away and we were skint. I always found Bradford a very rough city centre.
Even got grief going to a gig with my girlfriend and her mate.

Not really, a begrudging respect developed over the years as a lot knew each other anyway.
There were certain pubs we wouldn’t venture into and vice versa.
For example the Bedford Arms at the bottom of Wakefield Rd where more often than not a couple of coaches of Bfd Whites / Supporters club would travel and return back to games from.
I can’t ever recall them hosting a waiting party for us and it was common knowledge it was a big Leeds pub.
In fact JS a well known Bfd White used to hang round with them and was even involved in that Aberdeen off that Flaneur mentioned.
A certain Ointment lad from Eccleshill ( sadly no longer with us) once said that if all the Bfd Whites were City fans they’d have a right crew.
Mad days when I think back.

The Ointment visited our Town Centre local the Pot O Four one Saturday night. No one got seriously hurt.

A mirfield Leeds mob came in one week. They probably couldn't get their head around the Hx Leeds and Man Utd lot combining. The Man Utd lot were a few years younger. Paddy Kenny's older brother was in their number.

Going to places like even Undercliffe could even be dicey sometimes. I've written on here before about Chelsea stopping off in Undercliffe.

For what it's worth I did think that Leeds were more willing to accommodate any request, if you know what I mean.

I just floated through it all. Knowing people from both tribes.

Bizarre really, think one of them was big mates with the Landlord.
Full coach more often than not but that stopped after one game when we all got wind of it

Raposa That’s incredible given the carrying on in some two club cities back then. I’d have thought it would’ve been even worse when one lot don’t even follow a club from town.
Only drank there a couple of times and found it way rougher than Leeds.
Bradford had a pretty handy crew as it was, on a par with Bolton, Wolves and Boro for me.

Chelsea Pudsey was an NF thing I think.

Yeah the name escapes me too but went there a few times myself.
Allerton and Eccleshill/Idle were the two big Leeds strongholds in Bradford at the time.
A lot of the Ointment lot were from,or used to drink in West Bowling.

One of those where both factions used to choose their pubs carefully unless in numbers and actually looking for it, which thankfully wasn’t too often.

Jon it was partly that, I only know because when I was down smoke in 85, lad who I worked with brother was into that bollocks and told me that marches were organised and for some reason pudsey was a place that they would go to, remember some pictures outside the town hall in 80's. the other reason was landlord of that pub that was by market (in pudsey)was a Chelsea fan. Can't remember his name but it will come back to me. Was speaking to an old SC lad last night so if I had of seen this could have asked and answered.
