zico Mega_Armageddon_Chickens One of my first football albums (about 1971) had a photo of Steve Heighway in it. He had a mortarboard hat and full gown on and the article was about him getting a degree. Strangely enough I had an album with "Skem" in it. They must have won a cup at Wembley around about that time, perhaps it was a year or two later, I think they were wearing white in the photo π€ .
Mega_Armageddon_Chickens zico I think I might have had the same book..My mum used to buy football books from the second hand shops. Genuinely exciting times when she came home with one. As for Skem, things have changed and they now sing their little ditty about living in a town of roundabouts at their ground share with Burscough who used to have a cracking little set up and a stand bought from Everton .
zico Mega_Armageddon_Chickens This is the photo of Skem I remember Apparently, the photo was April 1971
Mega_Armageddon_Chickens CBIT I couldn't possibly remember the name...There were loads. I went to Skem fairly recently as some friends do Parkrun there...The concourse shopping centre looks tidier and some stuff seems to have been demolished but Digmoor and Tanhouse had seen better days in the 80s . A friend of mine is still trying to find the cave that contains the so called Dragons Eye in nearby Up Holland. I believe it ls in the grounds of St Joseph's where Paddy McAloon and Johnny Vegas trained to be Priests. Anyway that's West Lancs done.
white_dragon CBIT Every Christmas late 60's early 70's , Topical Times and Charles Buchans Soccer Gift Book.
YEADONCHAP CBIT Top right. Willie Pettigrew. AKA The Black Adder. Strong Chelsea showing as well. My wife has just seen this and insisted it's AI. I know it's not but she won't have it.
zico YEADONCHAP I got talking to an elderly Scottish couple at a bus stop near Tower Hill about 10 years ago, I think they were tourists. I asked them where they were from and they said Motherwell and I just replied, Willie Pettigrew. She smiled and nodded towards her husband and said "He taught him at school " and we got talking about Scottish footballers and Leeds United. I had had a couple of drinks. As they got off the bus, they wished Leeds all the best for the rest of the season.
