Jon Raposa The Battle scenes are brilliant. One of those I watch pretty regularly. Wish I’d seen it on a big screen. Not sure I’ve ever seen the directors cut but it’s a long movie as it is. And one of the best lines ever from any movie. I once fought two days with an arrow through my testicle.
CBIT The Last Right - one of those quintessentially Irish films - bloke flying back from noo york to Cork to bury his mum has the guy next to him on the plane pass away, tale involves him transporting the dead body across Ireland with a back story about an autistic brother who's actually his son and the pre requisite fucked up love interest whilst being chased by the Garda (the Irish one from Layer Cake)
albert_herbert_hawkins Reggie_Perrin Had Kirky baby into our studio for a few days a couple of years after he filmed that. The bloke was 70-something but looked a very fit 50. I was in my twenties and would not have fancied taking him on. Very nice bloke though went round and introduced himself to everybody, studiously polite, even to the cleaning lady, the ancient Mrs T. who managed to blush even beyond her rouge.
Djpekingman Bod Twas OK. Some of the shoot 'em up sequences beyond belief. Not too american gungho rah rah. Filmed in our bit, just up the road, Alicante, Sax, Vina-lopo etc Thought it looked kind of familiar. Bloody yanks, coming over here, blowing our bit up.
Jon Asteroid City. Aesthetically pleasing but I think he’s run out of ideas. Not much of a story there. First time I’ve been in a cinema since the pandemic.
CBIT Ash is Purest White - a gangsters moll takes the fall for him and he then does the dirty on her, wheel turns full circle and he ends up coming back to her - Chinese and set against the wider social changes (its set over a 20 yearish time span ) taking place. Rated 99% on rotten toms and on prime.
albert_herbert_hawkins saw the latest Indiana Jones a few days ago. Not as good as 1 and 3 but better than 2 and 4.
