A short bit of a long story, but currently in Malaga after a couple of days in tangier. Me and mate travelled to the arse end of the empire to have a come to with a member of the tangier branch of Leeds utd supporters club. Mate had a 'dead stock' '90's umbro blades training top on and we got run down rue de Mohammed VI, by a toothless local loon who'd made it quite clear he was Leeds. Had ambitions of a moroccan odyssey, planned to go to mauritania on the train & buses, but overall not a particularly nice place, heavy atmosphere, spent it drinking Casablanca beer round the pool with beautiful camp french men and after we had had our fill of dates and lamb tangines, decided to go back to Spain. If I've not shagged a Scandinavian by sunrise tomorrow I'll know my mojo is failing. I shaved my bowlaks and dabbed a bit of creed milliseme imperial behind my ears and to all intents and purposes am irresistible to women of a certain age.

My earthy charms have failed. No tapping up or copping off has occured. I've not got none, no how. For those interested, Malaga appears to be a really nice place. Caters for the cafe culture and has an extensive collection of churches and a chathedral. It is to my eternal shame that Leeds bettered us on tangier sea front, I currently feel like a member of the British expeditionary force sat on a trawler leaving dunkerque. I'll never get a book deal. To make matters worse he was badly dressed and had a moustache. :) the shame. Those in the know, don't show, but to any tangier heads on here, the hotel el minzah is where it's at. They have a gallery of famous ex guests, rock Hudson, John hurt, Rex Harrison, YSL, jc van damme, etc. Can't see a connection.

Such are the pitfalls of Sheffield sophistication... should have got the train to the meat markets

Big Picasso museum in Malaga. I know what you mean, it took me by surprise, was expecting it to be like Margate or somewhere.

There's a place just off the main plaza that does the best fired fish. Dead cheap as well. Always full of locals. Malaga is ace. The chingirtos on the beaches are worth a wander as well. The eastern beach is the more upmarket one, towards Palo.

There's a nudist beach between benalmadina and fuengirloa.when in rome though only

Quite taken by the place. Very clean and at the moment, blistering hot. I've got quite a chic hotel, has organic shower gel, a Philippe starck bidet and everything. Can't afford the mini bar prices so have cans of Alhambra and ice cooling in the bidet :) Spent the day on the municipal beach, eastern end, drinking white wine and eating grilled sardines. Nice, but still have view of cargo port. Currently tending to my sunburnt forehead before me & mate venture out. Is the fish place fairly small, down a side street with squashed seating, gore? If so, have seen it & very busy.Still a little pissed off for bottling morocco, but discretion being the better part of valour.....

Sounds like the place. Just off the main plaza, lots of people eating potions of fired seafood in newspaper - each portion is about 1.5e and they do ice cold beer as well I recall.Decent place Malaga, but as per earlier post - if you are looking for something a bit less sophisticated get yerself down to Benalmedina/Torremolinos for a mix of Babs Windsors sleazy granddaughter or John Inman. Its about 20min on the train.

Currently in Marbella. You're right it's been flipping roasting here today. Was looking at boat trips to Tangier today; 50 Euro.

I visited Malaga a couple of years ago and, not expecting much, was pleasantly surprised just how nice it is. I have it marked down for a return visit.Gore - I'm intrigued by this seafood place. You've described it twice as doing "fired" fish/ seafood. Was this a simple typo of "fried", like you'd get from a chip shop? Or is it a local variation, like the way they grill sardines on sticks against a burning log in an upturned knackered boat? Also what are the chingirtos on the beaches you mentioned?
gore
Its a typo. The place is called (I think) Pepa y Pepe and they are grumpy fuckers who do really nice fried fish for not a lot. Just the job when you're on a session. The chingiritos are bars/restaurants that line both beaches. Some are expensive, some cheap , some have music etc.. very lively in the summer lunch times and in the evenings. Some are great and some shit. My spelling is probably shit on this as well.

When in Malaga do your best to see the Amazing Magic Ball Man street busking, it´s twats like him that get gingers a bad name. On a serious note don´t bother, he was there when i was in town a couple of weeks back.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yP6HYzqUVUHaving sought out the youtube video I see he floats around a bit so he´s not forced to still be there.

Not seen him, but appear to be being followed by a long haired, goateed itinerant, who howls mournful Spanish ballads. Taps his throat for added emotion. Has some sort of microphone thing round his neck. Saw the seafood place gore, but didn't go in. The place I saw was called gibralfaro & looks top notch. Sent the day on the town beach, but plan to catch the palo bus up the coast tomorrow. Didn't fancy the nudist beach, as I'm hung like a field mouse on a winters day. Have been told Malaga are having a open training session at 18:45 tomorrow and might pop up to the stadium to have a look see.

Is it Ronda the bullring up the hill there? Or is it miles away? Worth the trip up the hills though. I had some lovely cheese up there. Sorry, drunk, which doesn't help. Go and see Betis. Actually that probably is fucking miles away. Explain to them that you're that cunt from the Beautiful South.Il derbissimo, 22 dicembre.
Foxy_Dread
Yes Ronda is up the hill, but a fair haul from Malaga. If you fancy a change and you are happy to spend a night up there might be worth the effort.Betis is even further, and the transport links are shit.

Get yourself together, go back and have a crack at that tashed up Leeds fan. You know you want to.
