Russian forces are now shelling Kharkiv indescriminately. This is what they did in Grozny. Surrounded the towns and then just shelled them until they capitulated.

I can see this ending up like Syria but with white people.

Been having a think, and trying to get into Putin's egotistical head.
At this stage the only option to avoid an ongoing advance into Eastern Europe and the inevitable war with NATO is to partition Ukraine in the South-East, so Putin can claim a victory.
Meanwhile the West continues to bloody his nose economically so he can’t afford more wars and eventually loses power?
Because he would sooner nuke Kiev than go home with his tail between his legs.

Ironically, the towns they're shelling the civilians in most are ethnic Russian towns, so he's killing Russians so he can liberate Russians from Ukrainians who are fighting to protect the Russians from the Russians. This only makes sense to Putin.

Reggie_Perrin You could say that about the citizens of Europe, with it's even more variety and population size, but we do tend to travel outside of Europe, and know quite a bit about other places/continents.

Thst is not just an anti USA comment as I have visited quite a lot and do appreciate the many parts of it.
Could we apply the ignorance comment to Londoners and their limited knowledge of not-London?

cordshoes well how many of us really travel outside of Europe? I reckon I've been to 15 European countries but only outside of that to the US once. Not a great percentage of is I reckon and Europe is not one country and you need a passport. In the US you have huge variety with no need for a passport. I said it's a slight defence though. The ignorance is quite shocking sometimes.

Then again, I’d only been to France before I was 20 but I knew where most places were. You don’t need to travel to read a book or look at a map.
