Anchor I caught up with Cath a few times over the weekend. The Heath Bookshop had a stall at the festival and she was doing Q&As each day with Authors at the Speakers Corner tent. Had a look in the actual shop as well on the way into the festival. Nice little shop. I bought one by Adele Stripe who is someone else I know from my home town who can actually read and write.
We didn't have the fold out chairs at the festival but our base was a waterproof picnic blanket just in front of the chair section (on the left and side near the murals of the acts). Good to have a 'base' when you're with kids.
Re the posts on Wicker Man style traditions above. It was well funny on the Sunday of the festival when they had a procession of people in various animal masks and a massive sort of walking wicker man puppet led by comedian Barbara Nice (Janice Connolly- who played Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights) on the mic talking about seasons and worms and the earth etc sounding like she was lashed. Then at the end hundreds of kids danced around them holding hands before the whole thing culminated into a big straw fight. Mercury Rev were setting up while all this was going on and looking very bemused.
