Went to see John Bramwell at Bristol Folk House on Sunday. I’ve seen him or Kloot a few dozen times. What a talented songwriter. He should be massive with his amazing voice and musicianship. He’s got another backing band playing/singing with him now, so lots of lovely harmonies. New album out too, which is decent. Think he’s got Manchester, Nottingham, Liverpool and Newcastle coming up, then out again in November at London, Bristol, Oxford, Manchester, York, Sheffield.

AndreWeimaraner He’s a talent for sure. Not heard anything since The Mighty Kloot mind. Only saw them once, think they’ve only been over here the one time. Pianos back room, tiny, maybe 150 tops. I was never good with judging crowds. Quietest audience I’ve ever been in.
He was asking them to say something, heckle even. One woman shouted,‘We’re in awe,’ and that was that.
To be fair, it did feel like a special night.
Must have a listen to his new stuff .

Watching Leeds v Huddersfield in Meanwood Tavern with my youngest, then we’re off to the Rhinos v Catalan. Then meeting the eldest for a curry at De Baga, before making our way to the Brudenell.

Under-the-ground He got a bit moody after some pantomime boos about the football, but he was great doing the early stuff. Seven Minutes To Midnight was brilliant. Met him after and he said I had a great smile. That’ll do.

Under-the-ground The Teardrop Explodes did Better Scream for a BBC session. I’d always assumed it was a Crucial Three song but apparently it’s a Wylie/Wah original and the Teardrops version is a cover.

fulmine did he have a band?the times I have seen him with support he is top notch. He had backing music last time I seen him ,gabbed too much and sort of put me off going again, a bit too karaoke.

otis Yeah, basic band, seemed a good bunch but missing that magic 1981 Liverpool keyboard. Had some keyboards on tape but didn’t really work. Sinful and Story of the Blues etc very pared back. He really had a knark on, think he’s not been doing brilliantly with mental health. Seemed cheerful enough offstage afterwards. Wore an old QPR-style top for Stan Bowles.
