A mate works in "technical insurance" (ie a lawyer who closes loopholes) and he always used to say that Alfa's were good for 6 - 12 months before one wiring loom or another burst into flames. His theory being that they were wired by colourblind monkeys. The recent data suggests, over the last three years, that they are, now, more reliable than Fords. This is now confirmed as said mate has switched from his beloved Merc to an Alfa, had it 12 months and he reckons it's the best motor he's had.
