hendersonjones Ace are pubs like that arent they. Especially in winter when they are less crowded and nice and cozy and warm.
I'm thinking of the Cod and Lobster at Staithes or the Bay Hotel at Robin Hoods Bay. Wife likes Duke of York at Whitby for the same reason but its always rammed and you can never get a window seat and watch the sea go by.
Been out with a load of us (couples) in the aforementioned ones as well. Great times.
