In Rugby League I have seen some tremendous fights, all of these were outside of the law of the game and pretty violent. I loved watching them, and calling the police wouldn't have felt right.
Even in this incident, which is bad, I don't think the police should be involved and would prefer if left to RL authorities to deal with.
Having said all of that reading the link that smiley posted, that is pretty horrendous, and seems worthy of police intervention. Don't look at the image when you are eating a meal.
Like you I love to see a good toe to toe, especially a ninety niner when they all get stuck in. Been involved in a few myself. But that second punch went way beyond the acceptable. The first was a classic retaliation, no problem, but to land one on an already unconscious opponent unable to defend himself was just malicious thuggery. It wouldn't have been acceptable in a boxing ring. Lucky it didn't kill the guy and I think the police may have got involved then. I don't like to see the police getting involved in sports but I think they should in this unusual case. And then to heare Jonathan Davies say "Haohao started it, Flower finished it, simple" totally sickened me. Maybe something to do with Flower being Welsh.
As I said earlier, I hope the bastard gets a life ban, but being Wigan it'll probably be 8 games.
