As I recall Laing completely out boxed Jones who knocked him out in the 9th in both fights. At the time I thought it was incredible that it happened. In a cynical style my dad thought it was to be expected. A good era for British Welterweights. Jones was unlucky against McCrory and Honeyghan was exceptional against Curry. And Sylvester Mittee described himself as a modern day phenomenon after one of his fights. I doubt I'll ever run into any of then in a charity shop though. I wonder if Lloyd drops his big fur coats off at Stratford Oxfam
