We made our own bed regards the food chain. We want people paid living wages and the environment looked after but we also want cheap food. So we get them grown by low wage people living in conditions that we would call "people trafficking" in southern europe and driven by low paid drivers across europe in fume belching diesel trucks.
We need to pay more for food. Grow it local. Pay decent wages. The money stays in this country and gets taxed.
This is an adjustment that we will have to have over the next decade.
