As luck would have it the Bishop's Castle real ale Trail was on Saturday. For those that don't know Bishop's Castle is a small market town that has six pubs and two brew houses. The Three Tuns being the oldest in England.The whole town becomes a real ale festival, the high street is shut, you buy a pint pot and go from pub to pub trying the different ales. And getting pissed obvs.Live music in most pubs and a decidedly urbane atmosphere until about 5.30 when it looked like it was going to kick off between young farmers and popped collar J crew wearing rugby wankers. All in all excellent fun.

Was on about this at the weekend. I've been in 'Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem' in Nottingham which claims to be the oldest but I reckon there are probably loads that do. Had an ace weekend in Ambleside. Stayed in the Salutation Hotel in a room with a hot tub on the balcony. Just me and our Peg. First time away without the kids. Seemed like we had about a week of time in two days. Did some cracking walks and had some top notch meals out. Saturday was glorious sunshine. Walked round Loughrigg Fell and down to Grassmere lake then back along the river to Rydal water and a sit in the beer garden at the badger bar. Superb scenery on Loughrigg Fell. Haven't been there in such clear weather before. Felt like we were in the Swiss Alps or something. Kept expecting to see Heidi and her granddad. Didn't really want to come home yesterday morning. Was just having a mooch in the Mountain Factor shop then came out and saw a massive dog over the road squeezing out a huge curly cumberland sausage just in the open doorway of Greggs. Must have stank. People had to step over it to go in the shop. Very surreal sight but it cheered me right up.

Yeah the facilities are brilliant. Its got a swimming pool with steam room, sauna etc and the biggest outside jacuzzi i've ever been in. Surrounded by trees and with superpowerful jets for massaging your shoulders. Just the ticket after a long hike. Breakfasts are magnificent as well.

Looking for a decent hotel in Barca for a two night stay for 7 blokes. Problem is one is a fund manager money beast so won't slum it.

Weekend a way of - I am skint so I plan on going back to Wentnor for the weekend into the week. I have a month off from Friday.I want to sit in a field and drink wine, read the paper, books and maybe grill some meat punctuated with walks over long and short Mynd.
