Amazing day, still aching everywhere, but feeling better and so chuffed that I bloody did it. It was pretty hot right up until the end when the sky went black and there was one of the worst storms I’ve ever seen. Trying to run the last 2km and I couldn’t see in front of me, could hear people behind me falling over and screaming, it was like some mad disaster movie. There was some bloke dressed as an aeroplane and all through the run I was thinking “no way is that bastard finishing in front of me”. Thing is, his plane was made out of cardboard, so the bloody thing was turning to mush, all the wings dropped off, he was running in the rain with the nose of his plane in front of him. I was trying to get to the finish line, trying not to bump into anyone, trying to stay on my feet, while also pissing myself laughing like some nutter.
