space They had cast iron block and an alloy head which was very prone to warping, exacerbated by their cooling issues (of which there were several). So in my book that makes it a design issue. A lot of folk loaded Ford engines into them if I remember rightly. I always fancied one cos I think they're lovely looking motors, but the engine issues put me off.
