EEPW for any stat heads out there here is an update
Electric range of car fully charged is 35km then it uses kinetic energy to recharge when braking and coasting plus a bit of engine to recharge as well.
I did the first of my twice weekly 100km round trip runs to work this week outward journey is done at lunch time outside temp about 24 and return journey at 10pm outside temp about 15, no AC or heater was used on both journeys. Start from home on full charge then managed to get a very low cost fast charge to 75% at work (cost 1.5. euro)
My previous car was a Peugeot 3008 2 litre diesel GT line and i was getting a range of 800km on a full tank of 53 litres. and doing about 1200 km per month (400 of those km are journeys of less than 30km) so using 80 litres at a cost of 1.40 or 112 euro per month.
My weekly drive is as follows
2 journeys per week of 100 km round trip , the other 5 days are local journeys of less than 30km each
Stats for this week total KM travelled 300,
computer is saying 85% of this was on electric and 15% on petrol. So i am calculating petrol costs for me this week 45 km on petrol (official stats for petrol only are 12.75 km per litre). so lets say 4 litres to be on the high side?) cost per litre are 1.4 so i calculate i have spent 5.6 euro on Gas
Charging costs so far at home (7 cents per KW on the lower night time tariff) ive had 4 full charges at 84 cents each 3.36) plus 2 charges at work @ 1.50 x 2
Electric costs for the week 6.36
Petrol costs (estimated) 5.6. (i think this will decrease over time as i get more accurate data)
Total weekly cost 11.96.
Total weekly cost old car diesel 28
Savings so far 15.86 per week or 63.44 per month. I dont work for 3 months of the year so in those 3 months i will only be doing journeys of less than 30km each so savings there will be much higher. i reckon i could be saving around 1000 euro per year.
not to be sniffed at. Christ im getting old!
