Misura There is an end to it - and I think it's now.
As mentioned before, the space I have in which to house and listen to the hi-fi is not optimal, but via that little black box with the green screen (RME ADI-FS 2 DAC), I can tweak the frequencies via a 5-band parametric EQ.
And with that left hand Wharfedale being housed in the corner, I've reverted to an old trick that I learnt as part of the R&D team at Wharfedale. These speakers have two rear ports, so I've bunged a sock in one port on each speaker. It stops it booming and smearing, and tightens it up.
I played a song I've heard countless times the other night (Let's Groove by Earth Wind & Fire), and there they were right in front of me, with excellent instrument separation, good grip on the bass notes and lots of pace, rhythm and timing.
People on hi-fi forums that I visit, don't rate some of my kit. But I've told them to fuck off and just visit those forums to pick up music suggestions.
Our ears, rooms, budgets are all different. They seem to forget this.
