A new car battery. Thick end of £200 as it's one of those auto stop/start jobs. Can't replace it yourself, either, as the engine management system will lose its mind, apparently.
When I were a lad, blokes near us would strip down and rebuild an engine, on Sunday mornings, before having a quick wash and nipping off to the pub for a few pints.
Modern life is rubbish.

Loose_Lips I'm on this tip. I'm really keen on 2025 being a hefty saving year. It's operation retirement. Or as close as I can.

The record collection will get a trim and maybe have a look at a few other piles of things just sitting there.

I don't need anything. I have enough clothes/trainers but if I want something then something will have to go.

I'll buy ponce though.

A new ,2nd hand touring caravan. Stumbling block will be that they have offered me 4k for mine. But they will give it a good going over before the exchange. It has many problems, if they drop down to 2k I'll still probably do the deal, any less and I'm not sure.
We've toyed with packing it in , which seems a shame now we are both retired and have more time spare.

white_dragon we have a Bessacarr stored on a pull and pitch basis near Helmsley. Not been on the road for 6 years but is comfy and cosy to stay in. Prob needs the water system looking at but we dont use the water, prefer it dry. Heating works perfectly, I need to replace the loo flush though. We have considered jacking it but it only costs £430 to store all year round and it's great to get away for the weekend. Love our little van.

white_dragon Do you tour it? My wife is getting her pension this year and she wants a new van. We site it. Ours is more grip-fill than van.

white_dragon Well, the deal fell through on the caravan. I'm hanging up my towbar.
We were both undecided about carrying on . When we went to clean and clear out the old one before taking it to the dealer for inspection. We both thought, it's time to call time on caravanning. When we were only offered £1500 for ours it made our mind up for us.
We've had a good 20 years at it.

Reggie_Perrin 1st van we had was a 10 year old bessscrarr , quality made . This Compass we've had from new 2010 , had loads of problems, mostly covered by warranty. Dragged it all over Wales, England and Southern Ireland, only been as far as Moffitt in Scotland.
There's a couple of 3 amp fuses usually in the toilet flush system , I've had to replace before now. Sorry if I'm teaching me gran.

Reggie_Perrin Do they charge you when you pitch it? That's a great price for storage. We pay £1500 for 12 months - can use it for 7 months of the year with hook up.

Anchor that's for year round storage and when they pitch it for us we pay normal rates so £25 to £35 per night.

Anchor There is one by the cassette and think the other you have to lift the button patch on the top. Have a search on YouTube, they'll explain it better than me.

Anchor i replaced the electric one with a manual one so less leccy things to go wrong. Think I've pushed the plunger in too hard, might be able to fix it but they are only £35 new.
