Misura Yeah... about £11K in 2021, from savings and more recently, on a 0% credit card. I'm happy with the sound now. I'm into music and don't spend money any more on clothes - the pandemic has helped! I'm not bragging in any way, I go without things to get the things I like.
I'm happy with the sound and won't be buying any more kit for a long, long time - it's a system for now and for the future. As mentioned before, I'm hampered by having my set up in a medium sized alcove, but ideally the speakers need to be spaced wider apart. But the wife has her limits...
The turntable is a Linn Sondek from the '80s that was restored to a high standard, that goes straight into the Cyrus amp that is far left on that photo. The Cyrus CD player on the far right connects into that RME DAC (the small unit with the spectral analyzer), which has some cute features on the remote, such as bass and treble tweaks (and at night, a cool 'loudness' function for low-level listening with a big, fat sound). 'Wooden Ships' by Crosby Stills and Nash sounds ace. Best of all, it has a parametric EQ function where I can adjust the (mainly bass) frequencies to remove the floppy bass I had through one of the speakers being in a corner. Nice and tight now.
The big middle unit is the streamer and I play Tidal into it but through it's own App, where the sound resolution is far higher than 'Airplaying' from my phone. These all go into a pair of Wharfedale Linton Heritage (nice sound and a nice looking speaker).
I try new tracks/artists/playlists via Tidal and if I like the song/album I buy it on CD or vinyl. 18 months ago I was blue-toothing Apple music to a soundbar - was happy with that until I dabbled back into hi-fi, and that's when it grabs you by (or should that be buy?) the wallet 😆
