space I've watched the first two episodes of 3 Body Problem and the characters are all such middle class knobbers I'm not really averse to the prospect of any of them successfully "throwing a seven" - this has kinda removed most of the drama. One of them should have been young but quirky dinner lady, or the lad driving them around in a cab, or heaven forbid someone with a regional accent.

Possibly but they are all some of the worlds best phycisits. Not sure how many Dinner ladies and Black Cab drivers are into advanced partcle physics etc..

Placid Reggie_Perrin never seen Good Will Hunting or Hidden Figures? 😉 Not seen “Hidden Figures” as it goes. GWH is ace. Will have a look, is it a documentary about cig smoking dinner lady/cab driver who becomes a particle physisist?
AndreWeimaraner Top Dog, as recommended by an old TR regular, on Channel 4 is ace. One of those scandi noir Walter Presents jobs. Mint. 👌
Djpekingman Cooley Just watched this. Hurts alot. The Specials were indeed Special. 40 years since I first saw them I got to see them again on the Encore tour in Brussels. They were wonderful. RIP Terry, Brad and Rico.
cordshoes Cooley Given the time and subject matter, I want to like it, but struggling. A little bit of style, but even less substance. The pace of it, and the acting therein, reminds me of a stage play, not a TV drama series.
oneallanclarke Netflix have a made a series of The Talented Mr Ripley. Andrew Scott as Ripley. I’ll probably watch it but the poor fucker who plays Freddie Miles is on a hiding to nothing after one of the greatest cameo performances ever by Philip Seymour Hoffman in the last film version.
l.q.navarro. oneallanclarke Not as bad as the poor cunt, who had to play a young Don Logan, in that embarrassment of a programme on Paramount +. Sexy Beast, which charts Gal + Don, starting out as career crims.
oneallanclarke oneallanclarke Finally got round to Ripley and it’s very good. Slow-paced, very heavy on the atmosphere, superb black and white cinematography. Andrew Scott quite decent. Just one scene with Freddie Miles so far. The actor plays him as a malevolent imp, couldn’t be further from Hoffmann, good choice
