EEPW Andor was ace. A bit wobbly at first - WTF was that episode withthe bickering rebels all about? Far too long on the wedding - the second half was top notch. Like the first series, it's Star Wars but without cute animals and divs in cloaks wittering on about The Force.

So probably not like Star Wars at, actually.

We finished and then watched Rogue One again - probably not coincidentally the best of the 21st century films.

Denise Gough was fantastic. A role to really go to town on.

Kevin_Stapleton I liked the bickering rebels. It felt like a vietnam film. What it said to me was the extremes of the rebellion. Them on some dump while Mon Motha got of her chonk at a high society wedding. As she orders a hit we never see.
The juxtaposition of rebellion. Much like Saw. Another swing to extremism in these things. I thought it was utterly brilliant.

Based on this and others comparing it to The Wire (pretty big talk that like), Ive stuck with it. And have to say its pretty good and Im hooked.

I finished Andor this week. I thought it was absolutely excellent. It was thanks to @Anchor , I think, that I gave it a second chance after just half-watching the first episodes and not really taking it in. I’m not at all a Star Wars fan but they did something remarkable in setting a paranoid Resistance drama for adults in that universe. The second season episodes on the increasingly repressed planet and the last one with Lumen were superb. The whole thing really reminded me of the great WWII occupied Europe spy thriller novels by Alan Furst. Anyone who enjoyed Andor for tension, paranoia, grey morality, ordinary people forced to do heroic things etc will find exactly the same in Night Soldiers, Red Gold etc.

Ive not got to that bit yet, have to say I got a bit bored of the Invasion series which seems very similar to this.

Watched Sirens, weirdly disjointed black comedy with Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon. 6/10.

Interested to see this Netflix/ Amazon/ Paramount trend of making mini-series with 2 A-listers, plus unknowns, Mobland being another example. Or has that always been the case?

Flaneur watched all but the season finale. Brilliant TV much better than series 1 which i thought was shite. I do find his laid back personality annoying though. If he reacted or spoke any more slowly he would be going backwards.

Just finished Virdee. Bradford noir. 'kin 'ell, it makes the city look like hell on earth. Good new is they've filled the hole in. Bad news is, the rest of it looks like a hole.

Eternaut, on Netflix. Started well, threatened to get silly with the beetles and all the plot holes, but pulled it out of the fire at the end, with a nice retro John Wyndham (Kraken, Triffids) vibe. I'll hang around for season 2.
