I thought I'd better sleep on it before posting to allow my cynicism to subside.
OK, "Coming 2 America" is basically "Coming to America" episode 2. I know that sounds obvious, but I mean - it's exactly the same look and feel as the first one. Same characters. Same places. Same scenery. Same jokes. Same Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters including that old duffer in the barber shop. Same basic plot of Young Black American freedom trumps conservative adult dogma type thing. It literally could have been made at the same time as the first one. The only addition is a song and dance routine in the middle. I guess it is what it is. 94 minutes of non-sweary family fun.
Remember how you felt about the first film? You will feel exactly the same about this one. It's the same amount of bad and good as that.
Watch it with the family. Not alone in the dark with nothing but a glass of whisy and a lifetime of regrets.
