Jon No, not living in an area thats had rioting but most of it seems to be in city centres, the London skirmish was on Whitehall. I live in Wandsworth a borough which goes from the highest average earnings in the country to some of the poorest estates.
Nope, I didnt want to move back, we came for work but in reality the companies I consult for are on the whole non-UK based and my better half is starting a new venture, which could also be anywhere. But, with a soon to be 13 year old, we're trying to give him some form of stability, so we're stayiung put and we'll get on with it. It's about him for the time being, not me.
Got some very good friends here, there's lots to do etc ... but @MolOverBeethoven summed it up nicely, "Where you have the peace of being at one with your surroundings and culture" and didn't feel that here when i left 20 odd years ago and I don't have it now. I found it elsewhere.
