My Uncle Cliff climbed into a Lancaster bomber and firestormed Bremen, helping to kill upward of a 100000 mostly civilians. Can't think of anything morally worse than that, but was he evil? Morality is just a function of the segment of society that you occupy at any given moment.
People don't wake up in the morning and say to themselves that they're going to be evil today. In whatever internal dialogue that goes on their heads they think they're justified and they are doing what is good for their community. The problem is that they are fuckwits being led by sociopaths, not that they are evil.
