There isn’t a Jazz thread that I can find. Sorry, but sometimes you lot need to chill the fuck out to some real music. Here’s some John Coltraine.
It’s my current bag.
Never got into jazz. Some bands I like have some elements of jazz in some of their tunes and some of the greatest records ever were recorded by jazz musicians, the so called Wrecking Crew.
Watched the Blue Note documentary, on iPlayer, a couple of months back and am now enthralled. Have various Spotify jazz playlists as background music and listen properly when MrsG is out - she fucking hates it.
Been listening to a bit , Miles Davis and Charles Mingus . It is nice background music to sit and read .

Once bought a Theolonius Monk CD, one listen. Nah, not my thing at all daddio.
CBIT Had to be done
Always liked Roland Kirk. Can’t link to anything as I’m on court WiFi
That drum solo at 6:50
JAZZ - its everywhere in all music, little echos and snippets and reflections. Rock, Pop, Soul, Funk, House and Hip Hop is almost a direct decendent of it. I love it. But you defo have to be in the right mind to lose yourself in it…
Placid
Yeah, it’s music for proper listening. I find myself listening and exploring then moving the 70s fusion stuff. And then I’m back into familiar territory of good musicians playing beats that I’m naturally attracted to.
It’s like red wine and cheese, you gotta delve.
I recently discovered Alice Coletrane for the first time this year.
Miles Davis and Easy Mo Bee
African Rhythms - Oneness of Juju
Evans makes it look so easy… 🆒 🐱
Which I think is the beauty of jazz. It’s highly technical playing made to sound laid back and lazy. A bit like great abstract painting is not just someone splattering paint around.
Hold on while I turn the jazz off,
🙂
